On creativity

In twitter there is a user called @AbuNawaf who is the famous Saudi AbuNawaf group owner, one of the most famous Arabic e-mailing groups that with time evolved to be a whole site. He posted a video entitled "29 WAYS TO STAY CREATIVE"

No matter what is your work field or interest in life, weather its school or work or social interests, creativity is a MUST, its the root of all greatness in life, creativity opens the doors for you to do what you want in unconventional ways that can make others around you happy and creative by effect or more enthusiastic about life in general, those 29 things are defiantly not obligatory but are VERY good to try :} I've always thought that seeing new things and exploring life creates creativity, so for a change do something new, look up something new and change how you do everyday things around you! Do some of the 29 if not all :)

3 - Kuwait City!

Earlier tonight I attended the third Pecha Kucha Night Kuwait :) which I learned today how to pronounce it properly :p its said as "pe-chak-cha" which is a Japanese term for conversation "chit-chat". The idea was introduced in 2003 by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham of Tokyo's Klein-Dytham Architecture. Pe-chak-cha is basically a 20X20 presentation! You have 20 pictures/slides to show the people and with 20 seconds for each :)

I met a friend over there, and we both really enjoyed the atmosphere, live band and over all event. I had a lovely evening on the quiet beach, people were happy I enjoyed every face/reaction over there :> kudos to Dr. Asseel Al-Ragam for introducing such a lovely non-profit highly entertaining and creative event such as Pecha Kucha to Kuwait! THANK YOU BIG TIME :)

Presenters can be anyone with something interesting to show! Artists, Architects, Designers, Photographers ,, etc. The third Pecha Kucha night in Kuwait had the following presenters:

1- Farah Behbehani : Extremely creative and mixed the traditional Arabic calligraphy with modern designs, she created beauty out of simple text! Her book "The Conference of the Birds" illustrates her creativity, it was a very enlightening presentation that inspired me a lot!

2- Ismael Abedin : Funny and very educational! The moment I saw him I thought, I know this face, only when I came home and looked up my followers did I know that this very funny man has been generous enough to be one of the people who follow my blog, am glad with every one of them I might say too. So other than being funny he really sent a very noble message to all people living in Kuwait through the eyes of a foreigner, wanting them to keep it clean, and wished for the future generations to be more aware and express their love for Kuwait by action :) he saw the hidden beauty of our beloved Kuwait, he gave us a good lesson of how blind we can be, wishing that every one would start with cleaning after them :>

3- Dana Al-Hasan : I could not look up information online about her, she had a good concept in her presentation but did not present it well and I guess she was a bit shaky but all in all it had a nice idea but defiantly needs to improve her presentation + idea flow.

4- Loaay Ahmed : "I think he is this Loaay that I gladly attended an exhibition for his work once" but am sure he's the Baazar Loaay :D catch the latest issue of Bazaar magazine and you will see his articles. His presentation was interesting, the most interesting idea is that the focus when any big business faces a crisis should be on its heads not the little fresh people in it, after all the failure is the responsibility of the head of all, not the little DO'ers! who are in fact the real working force of any organization and defiantly NOT the highest in cost :) Also the I liked the idea of diverting your attention to the feasible/ optimum is sometimes more profitable that looking up for the best!

5- Fareed Abdal : There was something missing in his presentation it could have been better, I loved his depth of linking the words with philosophy and that he takes words/ sayings for granted and really puts a lot of thought into them! Using text, calligraphy and colors to deliver his thoughts. He made his presentation interesting by the concepts he illustrated, however I wished for a more live and vibrant way of presenting.

6- Abd Al-rahman Al-Terkait : Due to technical difficulties the organizers faced, the presentation was slow at sometimes which effected greatly on his presentation due to the interruption of the sound that was playing in the background. Probably the most touching presentation that night, he showed us pictures of children from allover the world, childhood at its purest forms. Although most pictures were sad but I fell in love with a girl's smile, she took my heart out, and I was very touched when I saw how difficult life is to those kids, and how of all those difficulties they face they still do have the loveliest smiles you could ever see, just to be posed for a camera! I was very touched by his presentation and wished to know the story behind it all, and how to help those kids, more elaboration was needed.

7- Teddy B : The famous new addition to the Kuwaiti blogs, a true phenomenon in the current blog-o-sphere! A year long project with a teddy, in pictures :) implementing many ideas, one in person would not have been able to do. Teddy B symbolizes the creativity in presenting pictures with thought. After a year Teddy will do a lot and donate to charity a lot, however during his year he is also adopting good causes. In a cute simple way, he is spreading awareness and putting some thought in what we do/see in Kuwait .. I love Teddy B :D and loved the card even more ;)

Again I thank Dr. Asseel Al-Ragam very much from the heart for her work :*

Living Glass - Italy

Picture from [the cool hunter]
p.s: this is not in Kuwait :D

One of my favorite cafes in Kuwait, Waterlemon, with the lovely tables "filled with colored water" that I enjoy playing with :> I took the Livingglass URL of a table! found the lovely B.Lab with amazing floors and tables, very creative jumping from liquid underneath glass to shattered glass....

"B.lab is a multicultural, multidiscipline design laboratory which researches, develops and manufactures alternative architectural materials. Blab designs are driven by the desire to break the ordinary static aspect of our furnished environments."

Creativity is sweet :)

p.s: Thecoolhunter is a GREAT website! where creativity breeds and gets spread well, highly recommended as a regular net-stop. I think I found there my dream home :}

A link from "A"

My brother sent me this link in an sms

The Responsibility Project

"It all began when we ran a TV commercial about people doing things for strangers. The response was truly overwhelming. Thousands of emails and letters from people all over the country thanking us.

We thought, if one TV spot from Liberty Mutual can get people thinking and talking about responsibility, imagine what could happen if we went a step further? So we created a series of short films, and this website, as an exploration of what it means to do the right thing.

We believe that the more people think and talk about responsibility, and even debate what it means, the more it can affect how we live our daily lives. And perhaps, in this small way, together, we can make the world just a little better." about the project

A quick dish!

Yesterday:

When I got home, lunch was not appealing, looked into the fridge found some useful things [mushrooms - coriander - Parmesan] and did the following:

Took out some garlic & coriander

Butter in the pan

MUSHROOMS

Crushed garlic with coriander, added some salt when squashing them, it makes it easy to squash them :D this is my mother's tip! Then added some pepper "I prefer freshly crushed" and some dried rosemary

Added the mushrooms to the mix

Did not have time to cover the pan & wait for the mushrooms to sweat so i added a little bit of water ;p then after a minute or two added some cream over

A few minutes to simmer, the mushrooms with the fake white sauce mixed along well :D finally added some Parmesan cheese just before serving

Annnnnd :D I was DONE, it was ready to be eaten

This sauce with the mushrooms fits a pasta or even with some grilled chicken or steak ,, am a white sauce + mushroom + chicken lover :D thats why I made up this dish, although am not a garlic lover but with the white sauce it works well!

Mistakes:

It was a bit salty, I forgot that I added salt to the garlic & coriander mix :/ but I ateeee it along with my sister & bro,,, and they are FINE :D el7mdillah

a lot of cream and water added, a lot of sauce was produced :D which made it fit a pasta more than to be eaten alone ;p

I ate it with some brown toast. All in all it was a good quick Q80-ChillGirl'ie meal :D "that did not sound nice! too long"

Pilobolus

Picture originally from

This 2007 Oscars they made a great appearance in the following video

What is amazing is how they use their bodies to reflect an idea, perform an unconventional dance. Here is what is written about them in Wikipedia

" is the name adopted by an internationally-renowned dance company, whose origins are traced to a 1971 Dartmouth College dance class taught by Alison Chase; the founding members were Robby Barnett, Lee Harris, Moses Pendleton, and Jonathan Wolken. The group first began performing in October of 1971, and has been touring worldwide since that date, primarily with artistic directors Barnett, Chase, Wolken, and Michael Tracy, though Chase left in 2006, after having collaborated with Pendleton in 1980 to form the offshoot group Momix. Their performances have long been characterized by a strong element of physical interaction between the bodies of the performers, and exaggerations or contortions of the human form (or other anthropomorphic forms), often verging on gymnastics. Creativity

Creativity has no limits :)

"This is cool. A guy does a painting of Bruce Lee on the wall. He does not use any brushes. All he uses is his hands and body." [source]

Enjoy!
