My love, Perfect love?!

Eva Ariela Lindberg, the author of Tulip Love says: "Tulip" means "Perfect Love" in Persian mythology!

I loved that interpretation of the Tulip flower.

Note: Didn't read the book nor know what is the issue there, but liked that the Tulip flower got a big chunk of attention

I was also surprised that it's a Persian word, so i googled it :D

Yes apparently it comes from dulband which means turban: http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?search=tulip&searchmode=none

Now what i am wondering is that if it is derived from the Persian word dElband (not dUlband) and delband in persian means sweetheart (or literally= someone who is attached (band) to the heart (del)? hmmm?

oh and here's a bit of info i just learned while Googling 'tulip':

"The story goes that a prince named Farhad was love struck by a maiden named Shirin. When Farhad learned that Shirin had been killed, he was so overcome with grief that he killed himself - riding his horse over the edge of a cliff. It's said that a scarlet tulip sprang up from each droplet of his blood, giving the red tulip the meaning "perfect love."
