Today I went by Gallery Tilal for the exhibition of Abdel Moein Saleh , Hymns of love "this is my translation hope I did it well"
Sculptures were made of Bronze
These two works are called "left to right" : Harmony - Connection
What is beautiful about his work is the simple composition and bold definition of shape! Although, you can't see much details and features in the sculptures yet they do represent their subject strongly!
Two works called : Dove
Again, the details of the dove are not clear, yet the sculpture is smooth in shape and the edges are beautiful, its a representation of a dove's figure not exact physical shape
Polyester on wood, is the other section of his work, which I really liked also
The most beautiful of those works in my opinion was the Horse , what also attracted my attention in the art works next it that he represented words in creative shapes! A visit to the exhibition would defiantly help you to see how beautiful they are :)
The Promise
A lovely sculpture that caught my attention in addition to the dove, for a woman sitting beside an empty chair
Exhibition from 12 to 23 of February in Gallery Tilal

Blair from Atlantic-Pacific is inspirational, the woman who made me be very bold in my style
The picture above shows exactly WHY I love her, she amazingly manages to mix different patterns and prints, yet appear VERY nice! I've always had a fear from prints to be mixed together and prefer to add one piece and the other is plain, yes I am bold with colors but not prints and patterns containing so many colors, let alone together. She also made me pay more attention to accessories, they do make a lot of difference! Blair is brilliant, her blog is a MUST see.

Kimmidoll
"Collectable dolls expressing life's true values" - Kimmidoll.com
lt all started with a friend that got me a magnet for a tiny cute kimono dressed character, back in 2009, honestly at the time I didn't really care to look up Kimmidoll :} Not until a few months ago my sister's brought me a cup with an adorable Japanese-like character, she was "Michiru":
Hello, my name is Michiru 'Wealth' My spirit cherishes and shares. You find my spirit in the love of family, the gift of friendship, the sanctuary of home and the fulfilment of work. May you discover the great wealth of life.
Each piece from Kimmidoll character carries a meaning! Their story says :
"The traditional Japanese Kokeshi dolls are a perfect example of this simplistic Eastern beauty. Kokeshi dolls have been a Japanese cultural institution for over two centuries. Giving and receiving Kokeshi dolls dates back to the Edo period (1603-1867) in Japan. Kokeshi dolls were handcrafted by woodwork artisans of the time known as Kijiya, (which means woodworker in Japanese) to be given away as tokens of love and friendship.
Kimmidoll® is a family of contemporary doll characters, each lovingly designed and representing one of “Life’s True Values”.
While they look individual, there is one philosophy that all the Kimmidolls share, and that is about celebrating important values in life’s journey such as kindness, happiness, joy and respect. "
Promoting values through characters is brilliant, for instance:
Ayame 'Gratitude'
Ami 'Love'
Hiroko 'Generosity'
Misaki 'Tranquility'
And many more!
Through a tiny paragraph defining each character, on simple everyday everywhere belonging (like a mug or a magnet!) a smile is drawn and a person a reminded with a virtue :} Kimmidoll(s) gives me more than an adorable sight and a cute character, it also gives me a reminder of a lovely virtue and a wish. They are available in Center point - Kuwait.

The sky today was amazing, I think my followers in twitter probably got bored from the number of pictures I posted of it, the best scene was near sunset, breathtaking! The picture doesn't even do it 10% of its beauty.
The best part about winter in Kuwait is the cultural events ALL over :} I am not covering all of the events I attend but from now on will do, starting from tomorrow!
A tiny wish from me to every eye that got to this line, please take a look up at the sky before you start or end your day outside your house :}

Touching the sky
Touching the sky: A series of abstract posts, as abstract as the wish I have to touch the sky, when looking up, especially when there are "fluffy" clouds.
Character template.
As one goes by life, meeting people is a normal thing, building templates of characters for those people is a common error. People vary in their characteristics, habits and ways of thinking. Fitting one, into a template of another person just because of “some” similarities we might see among the “original template builder” and the “new person” can be very harsh!
Most just and fair way to evaluate people or deal with them is to directly ASK, when something is vague, asking is a definite tool to skip assuming and eventually judging and the template fitting.
Always allow space for “different” in every case, for I have learned, that as much as we human beings are similar in terms of organs, characters, ideas and many other things, we are VERY different, else, outliers* wouldn’t exist. Judging someone with whatever you have seen before can be very harmful, especially if that judgement went over the boundaries of your ideas into actions or words :)
Never judge people, fit them into templates or say:
yes, he is a man like all men OR she is a woman like all women.
Instead, react with who you meet, what you see or hear, depend on your mind, feelings and reason (the order of those is up to you), the final outcome is your experience and true interaction, which is far much better than trying to fit people into templates and maybe hurt them, or worse, fool yourself and see nothing away from your own nose!
*Used outliers as an extreme example for out of the normal cases.

Touching the sky
Touching the sky: A series of abstract posts, as abstract as the wish I have to touch the sky, when looking up, especially when there are "fluffy" clouds.
The sound of rain is more refreshing than rain it self, it tickles one sense, allures you to look outside and see the lovely gift of rain coming from the sky. Pleasure is about amusing all of the five senses, ecstasy hits you, when passion is involved.
When a rain drop touches your skin, smell the wet floor, see the the clouds sticking together to pour their heart out on us, hear the sound of it's drops landing on the floor, and finally when you feel a few drops slip into your mouth, take a deep breath and feel the joy of RAIN!
I love rain.

Izakaya ,, when delicious meets creative
I admire the work of Chef Ahmad Al-Bader, starting from The Burger Hub (love the patty! Best fulfilling burger ever) to Prime & Toast with a killer breakfast menu, love their poached eggs (on multi-grain bagel & the NY bagel with Zereshk), Pizzetta and now!!!! Izakaya.
The place is cozy, contemporary, with grey brown'ish look, small but elegant. The food? Is amazing, it blew us away and when they saw us taking pictures and admiring the food complimentary dishes were served from the Chef! I was up for tasting this new restaurant's food, I ended up having a FEAST
For the salad we took Rasberry and baby spinach
and
Green crisp salad
Both were amazing, right balance of greens/ dressing and.. FRUIT! You see the rasbery gave a bit of a tangy taste while the pears in the 2nd one gave this rich crusty flavor.
Shrimp popcorn ,, lovely, the taste was not too surprising but also good, however the 3 sauces on the side made all the difference.
Then the chef decided to give us two complimentary dishes :}
Cucumber strips with sesame dressing
and
Asparagus with miso hollandaise
Both were light and tasty, the veggies were not veggies anymore! A lot of taste and infusion made them delicious, eating asparagus was a task in my diet, with Izakaya it became a pleasure :>
The rest of our appetizers arrived....
Honey soy mushroom
and
Nut crusted shrimp
The infusion of honey and soy, in the oven baked mushrooms was to die for! Sweet, tangy sauce with smooth mushroom texture and flavor, you can't go wrong with it. As for the nut crusted shrimp, its another story.....
The nuts with their crusty texture and smooth rich flavor were exceptional with the taste of shrimp, I would have NEVER pictured the two together, I think Chef Ahmad Al-Bader created this piece of art just to take your sense of taste off track and try something out of this world.
Now for the main courses...
We took 3 maki'es from right to left : Izakaya roll "removed salmon, not a fan!" - Dynamite spider - Poached butter ebi & avocado.
I can't really do them good with saying YUMMY, I recommend all three if you are a maki fan, I do like Japanese food but not into Sashimi nor Sushi thats why we skipped them in the menu.
The highlight in the Izakaya roll is the smooth flavors mixture, the poached butter ebi maki the zesty ginger flavor and oddly!! Dynamite was very safe :p
Continuing with the mains...
Grilled local shrimp
Grilled local Crab
I'm not a dill fan, BUT the amount used in the shrimp was PERFECT, the infusion of flavors was well balanced. The crab as per my friend who had a fight with it was delicious too.
Although we were FULL but with all the good food we tasted, we could not stop the "dessert" temptation....
Nutmeg and hazelnut icecream
and
Pain perdue with raspberry shisho jam
The icecream was yummy as expected, but the Pain perdue, was a taste test. Just as we though that the food can't get any better, the Pain perdue flipped the coin! Izakaya won. The infusion of the crusty bread, raspberry jam and ice cream was thrilling, you can imagine each alone but the combination was a surprise, rich bread taste with the strong a bit zesty/ berry raspberry flavor topped with vanilla ice cream, made all the sense in this world :}
Another complimentary dish from the chef, 6 home made ice cream flavors: dark chocolate - banana chocolate chip - cranberry - butterscotch .. All were nice the cranberry was the most exceptional one, it did taste like fresh cranberry!!
Now the last 2, the cherry on top, the surprise (can you count how many surprises we got? :p),,,,
Basil and bird-eye chilly and the Balsamic vinegar ICE CREAM!!
YES Balsamic vinegar and CHILLY!! Green one is the chilly
To taste iced chilly was not on my list :} Again, he broke the senses rule, the regularity of taste, but since I'm not a chilly fan I didn't like it much, but was really surprised with it, it blew me away. Now the Balsamic one on the other hand, tasted really delicious, I didn't expect it to taste this good
We had a great time in Izakaya, from food, to atmosphere to service, a place I would defiantly go back to and try to finish the menu :) I thank everyone there for preparing such a lovely meal.
And yes, I will have to work hard in gym to burn off this meal, I broke every diet rule Wednesday night, and it was defiantly WORTH IT, and yes I will still blame Iakaya for the extra kg or two gained.

Stripping a week in 2012
It's already the 8th of January, a whole week passed by from this year. It has been a busy week, with a lot of ups and downs, which I stripped.
*Disclaimer: heavy post ahead!*
How to define the up and down in your life, its all about how you see things really. The down moment, for example when you lose something, is actually a way to avoid that loss in the future, a peek into what you will feel when you lose, and if you think well, you will know the new path of what's "after" that loss.
So is a down moment really down? No :} When you get benefit from something, even if at the moment was bad, that benefit flips the coin! And when something good happens, enjoy it to the max, repeat it and enhance the goodness in it.
Sounds a bit vague? Lets try an example.
The death of Steve Jobs, to Apple they lost a leader with a vision, to the world a man that provoked the technology urge within everyone, young or old. It is a loss, a great one. What did we gain? His life's lessons, his amazing products and his success. What he left is timeless :) In this example you can focus on the loss or the gain, the loss itself did not produce "all" that gain but it drew attention to the man he was, how he reached that level of success and I am sure many who did not know him at all now do, a lot who knew little about him (me among them) now know more and only a few consider what they knew a treasure. Take every piece of information for granted and you will gain MORE than you think, with the least "experimental" effort.
So other than the scale of good and bad, what was there for me in that first week. Clouds! Loads of them :}
I can't leave the house with out taking a look up, I have to see the sky, its a joy that I can't really skip. Within one day, you can see how often does it change, now the most enjoyable time of the year for me, because the clouds are the cherry on top. I love them and the FLUFFY ones are my favorite.
One of the main lessons that I get from the sky, day after day, is that "The only constant is change - by Heraclitus". With in 24 hours, a single day of your life, the sky can move from clear and sunny, to cloudy and maybe a bit rainy! Like today :)
What if we stripped every piece of information/ event/ story we stumble upon in our daily life?
With the graph above I illustrate an idea that I have always had, I am a limited entity in this world! Limited with time, space around me, my own physical being (abilities) and what I compile in my visual/verbal or general memory! Therefore, the collection of ideas I have is also limited, even when my imagination works, it breaks a few boundaries I live in, hence my imagination is also limited (to the boundaries I know and break!).
In light of the above I developed a concept of stripping ideas, going to the general line or statement it gives me and apply it to different issues in life. So given that "the only constant is change" that I see on a daily basis in the sky, people's behavior, climate and time change, I would be very unreasonable to want things to remain as they are! A moment of sorrow to remain as it is, a moment of joy too!!
However, somethings are irreversible, like time, once it passes it can't go back "so far! Time travel have not been proven/ practiced yet!"
Consider everything, reevaluate, get the bottom-line of it, keep it as a collectable idea in your memory and use it, you will be surprised of how "less" of experiences you need to go through in your life. Nonetheless, living requires experience and experience is molded with challenges in life.
Never fear a challenge, it is a GREAT sculpture tool for experience and intelligence :} But never go into an experience or a challenge that you KNOW the outcome of.

New year resolution
A friend today asked me about my new year resolutions, I realized that I don't have any!
I do have plans and things to accomplish but didn't really setup a timeline for them, didn't link them to this year, nor were my previous ones were linked to "time", they are just dreams waiting to be achieved or have been achieved. You see the "dreams" I have are never ending, its an ongoing process.
Which made me think, yes its good to have an outlook, a wish, a path to go by in this life, BUT setting your aims with a timeline is also practical :)
Some of the things that popped to mind in that conversation, had a timeline and I can see them being achieved very soon, while in others I left the timeline space to be blank. I have always counted on my mind to store them and bit by bit I see them get achieved, which I am fine with, but inserting the "time" factor would do me good :}
Therefore, as of now, in addition to writing down those things I aim to do in my moleskine, I will add the timeline :>

From here and there
Correlation
Around 2004-2006 the Kuwaiti blog-o-osphere was smaller, almost everyone knew everyone in Blogger and Wordpress, the ones who took Maktoob were a little distanced, but the link was Kuwait Blogs, and Safat the aggregator. It was almost personal, a close group of people you can reach a few clicks away, that allowed a lot of correlation! In things I see or hear around, that a blogger wrote about or talked about in a meeting I immediately relate it to him/her, now its spreading into Twitter. What brought this up is the cup of French coffee I'm having right now :} I recall a post for Marzouq where he asked for French coffee in France and Bo Maryoum who I think would be furious about the ones who call "Turkish coffee & liquid concentrated milk" as French coffee!
I love Kitty
Lately I have been using the note above for grocery and daily lists. I used to use stationary and keep kitty stuff around me at home a bit at the office, having them out was perceived as childish and a bit fake by others, then on a second thought :} I realized why should I take that view for granted? The original reason I kept those is that I love Kitty and her stuff, therefore, kitty note is out of the closet! and is for daily use.
Which brings me to the idea of Judgement, I have always faced a hard time with prejudgements! I kept the BBM status "Never judge a book by its cover" for a very lone period of time, and still think its valid till date and forever. Judging people, things, accidents by what our eyes see and our background interprets is unfair. Many things and people become very different when we look closer. So next time you think of judging anyone or something, think twice, give the benefit of a doubt, ask about it, then ask your self, is it worth the judgement? Does living require a lot of judgements? How about living simple :} Its not that bad :p

A while ago while browsing the net I found out about Alex and Ani brand, the idea is simple, Eco-friendly products that come from reused materials, expandable bangles, easy to wear, with a personal touch!
"Alex and Ani's mission is to design products that adorn the body, enlighten the mind, and empower the spirit. Alex and Ani's collections reflect a design aesthetic that celebrates each wearer's unique essence. Owner and designer Carolyn Rafaelian believes it is her life's work to inspire her customers to relish what is unique and authentic about themselves. Alex and Ani's artistry lies in drawing out the beauty that resides within."
In the website there are a lot of products huge variety, however the most catchy to me was the single bangle with letters on it, and of course I got my initials :}
I liked the +ve energy idea
"Alex and Ani embraces the power of positive energy as a core company belief. We have made it our mission to share the benefits of positive energy through the unique beauty and symbolism of our products. Inspired by the wisdom of ancient thinkers, Alex and Ani researched the most effective methods of infusing our products with the positive energy that ancients refer to as vital force."
Away from believes hanged with the symbols they include in their work, I think having something positive in your wrist or around you to see and let others see is good, and has a positive effect, on the eye and brain! like the love bracelets I have :}
So what is so positive about having your initials around your wrist? Good question!
This time it has to do with identity. You are first and last known your name, it remains, in people's minds, government records or places you have been in :) and your name is what you are defined with and distinguished among all the human beings around the world.
Alex and Ani biggest collection is in their website, and also can be found around the net in Nordstrom or even Amazon.

#RandomThought
At many times, in Twitter, I tend to write a few random thoughts that come across my mind, the bad thing about Twitter is that it stores up to 3,000 tweets in your timeline! Including replies and RTs, and there is no easy archiving way to go back to your tweets!!
I use the hashtag #RandomThought to write and scatter a few, here and there in time, in my timeline. So for the sake of documenting, I decided to write them down in a post :} The following are tweets labeled with #RandoumThough from my timeline, in various points of time and some other tweets that I count as random thoughts.....
When you miss who you thought they were, you don't really miss them.. So, fix your brains! #RandomThought
When you look back and can't find good memories, you should stop looking back!
When you look back and do fine good memories, cherish them, plan to create more :>
Wanting something, is not a guarantee that it's good for you :} #RandomThought
When sarcasm covers your bitter reality, you are strong & funny, when you forget that reality, you become ignorant. #RandomThought
I thank the man who taught me that loss is a part of life, Black isn't a proof of solace, moving on with a good memory is faith #Myfather
If you can't find the time, you simply don't care :} #RandomThought
When putting your faith into a theory, remember, its only a "possible" interpretation :} & 100% is an exaggeration of 99.9 :>
Even if your doubt is 99.9% confirmed NEVER forget that the 0.1% can flip the whole outcome of you actions :}

Jeffar Khaldi @ Dar Alfunoon
I went to Dar Alfunoon for the exhibition of Jafar Khaldi (As written in the invitation), a Palestinian Artist, who I just knew from the gallery about. While speaking with the lovely Lucia Topalian, the Manager Partner of Dar Alfunoon, that was generous enough to spare me a few minutes and explain the Artist's work and a bit about him, she noted that his name is Jefar and not Ja'afar! An old Arabic name, meaning "Strong Lion".
Some works were pictures printed and then painted over, others were
oil paint on canvas, YET the paintings were very close to pictures, in a
weird vivid yet washed up way!
Happy Feet
set of 4, stencil, airbrush paint on paper
Me Laden
oil on canvas
His "Me Laden" was impressive, the repeated features in the Laden'like face was really eye catching, the Jews dancing around and Qubat (= Dom) Alsakhra behind, that BTW many mistake as being Alaqsa Mosque, one of the 3 holy Mosques in Islam. I liked how pale the colors are, yet the point he was making is very strong (I always relate color shades with the idea), to me I saw it as a painting to mock the "Bin Laden" phenomenon and how in other parts of the world others are occupying countries and dancing around :} Nonetheless, I have no problem with Judaism but a huge one with Zionism.
The Anger: Images of the Arab Spring Demonstration, with Punk Rock
I took a pause infront of this one in particular because I had a conversation not long ago, regarding how we should segregate the feelings we have around the acts of crowds, once a whole crowd is unified on one thing, a word, a dance, a movement! When is this an act of the crowd and when is it "holy", when a person is humble (convinced) or merely acting like others.
My favorite paintings were for Omar Almukhtar and another for Moshe Dayan! I won't elaborate on them, go see them :) You can google his name, take a look at a few more of his works in this webpage and I highly urge you to go visit Dar Alfunoon, the exhibition is running from 12.12.2011 to 5.1.2012.
Dar Alfunoon - located in the Behbehani Compound House 28 Al Watiah, Kuwait City Tel 22433183

Marvel's The Avengers
I am waiting standing on my toes for May, 2012. I am very biased to Iron Man among all the avengers, I think the avengers are way cooler than the justice league :p "go figure!" Although my beginning with comic books was with Tarzan and Superman "from DC comics", through my brothers old Arabic translated ones. Which at the time, I did not have much interest in.
Of course the movie Batman gave another dimension to comics, then I got to know what is a graphic novel through the amazing V for Vendetta.
Summing up their Avengers in one movie is a MUST see :}

Cute and funny movies I can't wait to see
I can't even begin to say which Muppet is more fun! Miss piggy, Kermit, Gonzo, Baker the Ode to joy performer, the Mahna Mahna team, which reminds me I just knew that Mah Na Mah Na is a real song!!
The whole combination is amazing, although I used to think that sesame street is the big show and the muppet show is just a part of it, since I thought, hey costumes, funny?! All the same? I came to know the difference quite well :p The muppet show far more enjoyable and funny.
Also HAPPY FEET two :>
Other than the ADORABLE baby penguin you have the crazy shrimps! Although I have a feeling it won't be nice, yet I can't skip cuteness!

Erroll Garner
From the mighty wiki:
Erroll Louis Garner (June 15, 1923 – January 2, 1977) was an American jazz pianist and composer known for his swing playing and ballads. His best-known composition, the ballad "Misty", has become a jazz standard. Allmusic.com calls him "one of the most distinctive of all pianists" and a "brilliant virtuoso"
I came to know his work from "All The Things You Are" Then I started shuffling his work, and found it VERY hard to pick a favorite :) However, first meetups make the biggest impression!
What I like about his pieces is how smooth they go, as if Jazz takes a pause at his doorstep and a flow of words in a very laid back relaxed conversation start.
I leave you with Laura, a random pick
