Today my blog is officially 3 years old,,

3 years back, in 2004 I almost left this blog, to my surprise Nibaq the owner of Kuwait blogs dot com has found my blog & with his comment he pushed me to stay & become a blogger. Of course now in 2007 I would like to say sorry for the big "bdleya" ya NiBaq not NiPaq ;p

The best thing about blogging is that the only commitment I have is towards my thoughts, they make me write, also the idea of documenting some parts of my life is nice too.

To all the bloggers out there, I knew, commented on their blogs or they commented here in my blog or even passed by silently, bloggers or not, I love you all :D Because in a direct or indirect way you touched my life, some of you are like family to me, others are like friends, some made me learn lessons, some made me think several times before saying any thing... All in all I grew with this blog & along my personality too :)

Sleep-less

Dead tired, but my brain can't stop thinking :D therefore I decided to make use of this time,,



My love, The Tulip flower, I think the reasons that made me love it so much, other than it being not so popular in Kuwait or in the world compared to roses, is the fact that its shape is so delicate & feminine, I relate its shape to feminism because as you can see it is slim up to the top, becoming full in a smooth curvy way, closed up on its self a bit!! YET the best thing is that it does not have any THORNS :D unlike the infamous roses!

Occupation 101 - Documentary

Tonight I attended the documentary called "Occupation 101"

I first knew about this even from facebook, كتاب وجهك على قولة بعض الناس

I didn't think much of it, it was intresting but I wasn't sure that I want to attend, didn't join the group & didn't take action. Yesterday as I was checking around the q80 blogs I found a post about it in EXzombie's blog, so I said why not? especially that I missed the First Kuwaiti Short Film Festival, that I did want to attend. So after reading about the Documentary "Occupation 101" I decided to go, my sister canceled on the last minute so I went alone.

In beit lothan I got a little lost, but with some help I managed to find the right way to the Cinemagic Kuwait's event: screening of the documentary "Occupation 101". The best thing is that its done in my favorite day of the week Tuesday :D kidding more is on the way ;p

Regardless of my opinion of what went on here in Kuwait back in 1990 & the way a lot of Palestine's people "they of all people in the world know how it is to have your country stolen & they too of all people know how much Kuwait stood by them" act to the Iraqi invasion on Kuwait, I do sympathize with their cause. Losing a country, identity and living in a prison called home is not easy.

The documentary illustrates how powerful the media propaganda can be, how influential more than 40 VITOS can be! the number of times the USA used the Vito right they hold in the UN regarding Israeli violation of international law.

Information wise, I did gain a lot from this movie & the way they illustrated the information, including numbers or percentages was very interesting, to the extent that I did not feel bored at any time in this movie! And it is hard to keep me posted I get bored easily....

The movie started right at the heart of the current events, then moved up to the history of when the Jews were first placed there, I like placed more than immigrated :) and went on with the events/ facts up till date.

Palestine as a country held the diversity of having the 3 heavenly religions man knows, and is a holy land for the three of them! Muslims, Jews & Christians used to live side by side there, what changed over the years & made Muslims/ Arabs be criminals? Other than power, money there is media. In the movie you see the real view of different people in Israel & Jews, in or out of Israel, who one of them claimed this whole mess to be the hand craft of Zionism! saying that back in the day as his grandma told him Muslim Arabs & Jews used to live side by side. Also showed a lot peace wanting organizations in Israel, one of them was the The Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions, which fully shows an other side of Israeli people, a silent one I should add. All in all the movie shows the plain truth, what the media eye can not see nor most of the people "in the west especially" can see, since they use the media eye to see things in the middle east, in Palestine to be more spacific.

The movie is an award winning one & definitely is worth seeing, my view of the cinematic side is as follows:

The story was smooth, things were not too quick too slow, the best thing about it is that it showed us the familiar present situation that we can relate to then switched to the roots of the issue....

The jump from, an interview of an activist in any field, facts, numbers and real people was done VERY well, to the extent that I was hooked up all the time, I didn't find time to think of anything else, as I sometimes do in movies :D

The music, sound, and editing was great! The three most touching scenes for me were (1) The Palestinian kid that kept talking in a very enthusiastic way about how mad she is with all the demolition happening around them & how they are living (2) The American kid giving people a speech about kids in the Middle East, Palestine to be more pacific are just like them, normal humans with normal needs (3) the wall that Israel had built....

Last but not least, it was interesting to see the amount of money being sent to Israel from the USA and how well armed Israel is.

All in all I liked the movie and appreciate truth more & more. The only bad thing is that I did not chose a good seat! And smoking was allowed, I HATE smoking! although its an open area but still I can not cope with smoking, I didn't want to hurt the smoker's feelings but then again my lungs on one hand their feelings on the other?! I bared with it, but next time I will stay away from smokers! Now that I know that they can smoke in this event.

I think the idea of being treated with power is impressive, and makes sense! since we do live in a world that is composed of different types of power. Every thing has energy in it even stones. Lately I have been OVER obsessed with decor "I already do like it & admire contemporary work!". I will start furnishing my new room this weekend! The only thing I am sure of is the office :D I chose one & it will take a corner in the room, the main concern in this process is SPACE MANAGEMENT & SPACE UTILIZATION. I will do my best to plan it very well so that it fits my things well & not look like a sardine can. Oddly the decor/ furniture section in the magazine was not so bad! actually they chose pretty cool stuff to display.

Home Sweet Home

Walking on Kuwait’s shore, tide coming gradually, the cold waves cuddle my feet and the weather is amazing,,, with that I end my short time off work & almost every thing in my life.

رحلة العودة على كثر ما انها متعبه بس امتعتني! لاني برد للكويت،، فقدت الكويت بشكل ما توقعت اني ممكن احس فيه نظرا لقصر فترة رحلتي، بس من بعد الغزو صرت افتقد الكويت اكثر! هم زاد الطين بله اني بسنة الغزو كنت مسافره و خارج الكويت و قظيت فترة الغزو خارج الكويت اللي بوقتها كانت تحتاجنا، قمت افقدها بزود، ما اقدر اتم برا الكويت لاكثر من اسبوعين. لما قربنا للهبوط الكابتن يعلن درجة الحرارة بالكويت 38 سيليزية و الساعه المرتقبه للوصول 10:30 ليلا، ابتسامتي من الاذن لي الاذن محد قدي حزتها حسيت الله الكويت و بصيفها الحار، احبها. الغالبية مذهولين و بما انهم من غير سكان الكويت كان الوضع غريب بالنسبه لهم بس جدا اسعدني هالاعلان و حسيت ابي حر و صيف الكويت

يمتعني صيف الكويت على كثر ارتفاع درجة الحراره و موجات الرطوبة اللي انا فعلا بعض الاحيان ما اتحملها، الحر و الغبار يطلعون نعمه عند الرطوبه! بس اشوفه حلو، بالذات شكل البحر بعز الظهر و فترة القايله. و غير هذا الفضاوة بالصيف لان غالبية الناس بينحاشون من الحر فا الشوارع تصير اقل ازدحام، الطريج للدوام سهاله، و يا زين الكويت

Its been crazy, hectic, but at least I will try to list up some thoughts that I will publish details on later

منو قال ان فيجاس مو وناسه؟ و انها بس للقمار و حياة الليل؟ ،، اللي قالها غبي او ان نظرته للدنيا مو كامله

I had the pleasure to do a radio interview with the media line, you can listen to it from here, note people I was a bit nervous hmmm a lot actually this is my first public interview! Feedback is appreciated and to tell you the truth I did want to change some of my answers & wished that I was less nervous but it was spontaneous :D oh & on the camels thing I should have made a laugh effect! to note that its a joke lol ;p

الجو حار تقريبا نفس جو الكويت بشهر 4 و بداية 5 ، بس المشي متعه :> و ردة فعل الناس على اني متحجبه امتع لوول

Days pass by like a flash over here, here is a short list of what I will elaborate on more in the up coming days:

1. Thursday: Get here safe & go to sleep! me & my bro
   
2. Friday: Getting tickets to shows, shopping, knowing a wonderful man by the name of Rod Rodriguez, having STOMP OUT LOUD tickets on the last minute! attending the first show for us in Vegas, an amazing experience a great show! I literally sat on the edge of the seat most of the show & was excited as a kid who is trying out chocolate for the first time!!!
   
3. Saturday: More tickets digging, registration for the Convention, I'm having a blast but miss Kuwait a lot, more shopping, we were too tired that we skipped the Ray show! pity he was here for only two nights!
   
4. Sunday: Out for lunch, met with fellow Kuwaitis, had a great time, knew great people. Attending the Convention opening, which was the largest crowd I have ever been among! in the hall there were 22 THOUSAND people! then an amazing breath taking show!!! this is a once in a life time thing....
5. Monday: its almost 10 am, not there yet, am going out to enjoy my time & plan for the next stop after Vegas.... wish me luck :D

** Have you ever felt that the 24 hours of the day are not enough?
i do now :D
However in a way it is nice :D as long as things are going right, when the NO's appear then it becomes messy!

** Quick trip, done on the last minute, things look nice so far, departure is INSHA'A ALLAH Thursday.

** Dr. Saleh Al-Ojiri is my choice to talk about in my up coming post in 192 countries blog.

** I am so busy to the extent that I could not read the book! but the best thing about a blog is that there is no boss waiting for your paper to be signed in ;p stay tuned it wont be long to hear about the land of the unknown!!!!

** Last thought, I might do something interesting in the VERY near future! lets see how things go in the media line ;}

In the Land of the Unknown ....

is my companion tonight

a book by a Kuwaiti Author called Tarek Al-Duaij

i bought it a few months ago, tonight will read it, although i did read 28 pages in the first day i took the book & i have to admit i was hooked

*hooked and it took me all this time to decide & be done with reading it! eshloon if am not hooked??*

i have to admit i had little time + interest in reading the past few months...... however that didn't stop me from buying books at all!! and the list is pilling up......

back to the book......

not only that the stories are exciting, but to try & understand the way the author is writing in & the philosophic message behind each story! is a challenge....

i have to admit the book cover caught my eye first! not noticing the crazy + cool poster that was hanging right there in front of me, was actually to promote the book, i didn't bother to read but laughed on how the poster was like.

it had a picture of some guy's head with an odd expression on his face, as if he is screaming :D but multiplied for a zillion times ;p

in that poster, if my memory doesn't fail me the multiplied pictures of the man's face were in the form of a big swirl ?? pity i didn't take a picture of it & kept browsing in my favorite book place....

not until i got to the Indian cashier who i like so much, such a friendly guy although when you first know him he can be moody! but as time passes by he will be nicer.... I knew who was in that poster!!

he looks at the book & praises the author a lot & says a few nice things about him, and asked if i knew him, i didn't :D but the book looks appealing to me, he didn't recommend the book as much as he again praised the author & pointed out to the poster that was also behind him, the same odd funny poster i noticed before, saying this is Mr. Tarek, a thing that made me smile & like the book even more, and hated the fact of how careless am i to read whats around me!!! and we kept talking for a short while regarding the material i took that day...

What posts i enjoy?

Ones with pictures in them, using different things to illustrate the ideas in the post is always a plus for me, its an extra initiative to read the post. Although they are not show in Safat, which is fair to the text-full posts, but when i see a "picture/ video/ any type of illustration"-less post i do find a difficulty in reading it, baring in mind that i do not add pictures all the time ;p

I'm so distracted, a lot of things need to be done, planning is going out of hand a little!! due to the amount of things that i need to fit in my day & finish them, my to do list is piling up & full of intersecting tasks

in a way it seems like a nice challenge, how good will i be able to utilize my time.

the virtue of this, is that i am beginning to realise the value of time & the saying

الموقف انساني و تعجيل باجراءات إدارية، لكن و الله الكتاب ماوصلني شلون اطلع الرد عليه؟؟ احاول اشرح له و فاهمني و يرد ايحن، خلص من التلفون جاني لي المكتب، خلص من اول مره رد مره ثانيه، رد مره ثالثه اقوله و الله ماوصلني الكتاب خل ايتحول عندي و انا مجهزه كل شي و راح اطرش الرد بالفاكس للسرعه و ماعندي مانع اساعدك و الموضوع سهل لا تحاتي بس بط مرارتي بحنته

Latest chocolate obsession!

Lindt Excellence

There are several products of this line introduced by Lindt that is all about DARK chocolate, I was never a big fan of dark chocolate but now I am :D

The intensity of dark chocolates available are:

Cuba 55% * i LOVE*
Madagascar 65% * i LOVE*
Ecuador 75%
Dark 70% * i .5 LOVE*
Dark 85%

My favorites are Cuba 55% with a hint of Tropical Fruits & Madagascar 65% with a hint of Vanilla,,,, they are YUMMY!! However I can handle the Dark 70% but the Ecuador 75% was too intense for me! I only tried the Dark 85% once, didn't get it again since it was toooooo intense for me! 85% tasted too bitter for my taste, but the Dark 70% - 85% are all about Dark chocolate more than the "Cuba - madagascar - Ecuador" who have other additions to their ingredients that affect the intensity of the chocolate flavor, although Ecuador had the addition of extra COCOA, that made me think what is the difference between chocolate & Cocoa ??

Highly recommended for the ones who value chocolate. Although I must note that it’s a bit fatty compared to other dark chocolates I tried before, still they are good :D either way they are less harmful than the usual chocolate bars filled with sugar & butter.

Purgatory writing in ARABIC !!

This post is dedicated to the event that happened for the first time since I knew purgatory, summer of 2004 in the blog-o-sphere. He wrote a post title in ARABIC.

Judging a book by its cover

Judging a book by its cover, a sentence we hear that took me a little off shore...

When buying a book, you must read some of its content, of course in the introduction the Authors usually write what they think is important to introduce the reader to their book, but the book is not all about whats in that introduction, nor its an short form of what you might come across inside the book, its just a simple way for the writer of saying "hello reader, give my book a go!"

Of course introductions make a big difference, same as first impressions do to most of us, but a good reader with an open mind must always read through the text inside the book, see what is it all about & never rely on the introduction OR what he/she read/heard about this book NOR the writer's name or other personal information.

Moving to those who judge books by their covers! Now a book cover is subjective to what physical shapes & colors the writer might like! not to what the book is about! Some writers relate them closely "the content & outer appearance" others don't! Now refusing the introduction to be the reason of owning a book would of course oblige one with such mentality to not judge the book by its cover! For it will be a more vicious crime.

But what if the cover & outer appearance of a book is all what the person looks for? What if there is lets say,,,,, a sealed book!!

You know like the plastic seal that some books & magazines have?

It would be more beneficial if you imagined this lovely very impressive seal not just the plain plastic see-through one!!!

And what if that seal has been corrupted, the plastic cover sealing the book got ripped/scratched? Most would want the new fresh un-touched one right behind the displayed with a shredded seal. Noting that, if the cover is not VERY attractive, and placed in a more attractive place, that might lead the book to be left on the shelf for ever, sold among the stock or worse! be thrown without having the chance of being owned nor read.

So supposedly, how hard would the life of a book with a so so cover, and a corrupted plastic sealing over it, be?

What made dig this up is that I downloaded a book & want to read it. What I understood from all of this is that its a format of file compression similar to ZIP only it enables more things to be compressed, format wise.
